On this page you can find basic accessibility information about CASA House.

Building access

The CASA House main office is in the Queen Victoria Women's Centre (QVWC) on 210 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne. 

Our office is on the third floor, which can be reached by lift or stairs. These are located near the back entrance of the building. 

Main entrance: Located on Lonsdale Street. This entrance has stairs and automatic sliding doors.

Back entrance: Found within the QV square, at the back of the building. This entrance can be accessed by a ramp or lift and has automatic sliding doors. 

CASA House has a waiting room on level 3. If you do not feel comfortable in a waiting room, please let us know prior to your appointment.

Toilets
  • Accessible toilets: There are accessible toilets on the ground floor and level 2 of the Queen Victoria Women's Centre. 
  • CASA House toilet: The CASA House toilet on level 3 is not accessible for wheelchair users or people with mobility issues

Sensory information

Sounds

Lobby: people meeting, talking. Traffic noise. Wind.

Elevator: no music, people talking and an automated voice naming the floor when doors open.

CASA House reception: people meeting, talking, answering phones. Door opening and closing.

Waiting room: people talking.

CASA House hallway: people talking, answering phones, kitchen noises.

Counselling rooms: mild traffic noise.

Sights

Lighting will vary throughout the building and includes artificial and natural lighting.

Curtains and lighting can be adjusted in the counselling rooms.

Smells

We encourage staff to wear low-scented products.

Smells in the hallway and waiting area can include food, tea and coffee.

Tastes

Drinks are available in the waiting area and include tea, coffee and water.

Touch

Sensory toys are available on request.

Seating in all rooms is made of a wipeable vinyl that feels like fabric.

Assistance animals

Accredited assistance animals are welcome.

Cushioned chairs to wait in next to a large, bright window. Plants and an inclusive poster and flags decorate the space.
